The Albatross
Over stormy oceans fly,
through howling winds, and leaden sky.
Boats tossed on the swell below,
the angry waves, that will swallow.
Clouds that part, the sun shines through.
Then over glittered water, blue.
Shoals of silver fish that dart,
my cunning nose, they can’t outsmart.
Swooping down, I grab one fast,
and pause to eat my new repast.
Then back up on rising air,
my wings outstretched, without a care.
Gliding over many miles,
of empty seas, and tiny isles.
My solitude, my Wisdom gained.
My wild side, that can’t be tamed.
Days on days, the years go by.
A world that’s changed, yet still I fly.
A long life lived, the seas I cross.
Remember me, the albatross.
